A bustling pub in the heart of Newcastle, The Brandling Arms are as famous for their Sunday Roasts as for the ales.

The warm, inviting atmosphere makes for a perfect lazy Sunday treat, though in the evening it becomes one of the liveliest spots in town.

Kick things off with some deliciously British starters like devilled whitebait with tartare or a carb-heavy sharing board of breads, Calabrian cured meats and olives. To follow, heaped plates of meat – from rosemary leg of lamb ad a 21-day aged sirloin – come with stacks of Yorkshire pudding, roasties, seasonal veg and braised red cabbage. Finish with apple pie, sticky toffee pudding or a locally sourced cheese plate.

Found in the popular Gosforth district, it’s just a short walk to Wansbeck Road Station.
