In their own words, the Elgin is 'Maida Vale's front room'. They serve fresh and seasonal food in a hip, shabby-chic space which invites you to feel at home.
The Elgin is atmospheric and a hit with locals, thanks in part to the elegantly rustic interiors of subway tiles, exposed brick and wooden floorboards. We're sure that their use of the very best local produce has made them popular, too.
The Elgin source their meat, fish, veg and milk from the Estate Dairy, their English cheese from The Cheese Merchant, oils from Greg & Paulina on Broadway Market and their eggs are laid by free-range chickens at Rodley Court Farm in Gloucestershire.
Brunch at The Elgin has an international influence, ranging from bubble & squeak to potato latkes. If you're being healthy, try the heritage tomato and black rice salad, topped with pomegranate and fennel for a punch of flavour. We personally love the sound of the Elgin cheeseburger, which comes complete with tomato, pickles, mustard mayo and fries...it's a bit less healthy, though.
Rounding off the week with a Sunday Lunch is an enduring tradition and The Elgin pull it off perfectly. Pick your way through a range of delightful small plates, like Dorset labneh with marinated peppers, before the main event. Each roast comes with all of the trimmings- whether you choose the aged Welsh rump with mustards, the 1/2 corn-fed chicken crown or a veggie Heritage Squash Wellington.
As they're just across the road from Maida Vale Underground station, there's no excuse not to drop by The Elgin for good food and drink.
