Meat, fish, fire: what Coal Shed excel is in is simple, substantial and completely satisfying Brunch and Sunday Lunch.
Come on a Saturday for a brilliant Saturday Brunch and start off with some modestly-titled snacks – short rib croquettes and market oysters are a great taste of what Coal Shed are all about, followed up with a wild rabbit and ham knuckle for a gamey, traditional British appetiser. Other starters include a smoked haddock scotch egg, seaweed cured salmon and grilled octopus on a bed of black rice.
You can then opt to try their locally-sourced, mouth-watering steaks for a more filling meal or go for Brunch specials, which range from French Toast to a crab rarebit and poached eggs with wild mushrooms.
The absolute showstopper of a dish, one of Coal Shed’s signatures, is the Brunch Plate, a huge £30 platter of all your favourite breakfast meats and sides cooked to perfection. We love the sugar pit bacon chop and a drool-worthy beef hash with dripping toast.
Why not throw bottomless Bloody Mary or Prosecco into the mix, for a mere £15 and £18 respectively, and make it a proper celebration.
Gather friends, family et al for a proper Sunday Roast, where you can enjoy a gargantuan 500g Black Aberdeen Angus for just £22.50 per person. It’s been dry-aged for 34 days and comes with beef fat potatoes, cauliflower cheese, honey roast root veg, seasonal greens, Yorkshire puddings and smoked gravy, designed to be shared between two.
Kids are more than welcome too and even dine free before 7pm.
