Sunday is a friendly neighbourhood café with a rustic, homely feel; a gem in Brick Lane’s foodie haven.

They’re ahead of the game when it comes to their food and it’s highly likely you’ll be able to try an innovative new concoction before it spreads from foodie to foodie (Sunday were big champions of yuzu hollandaise and popcorn grits). Their menu is updated regularly but a staple dish of theirs is the Huevos rancheros or fluffy buttermilk pancakes with honeycomb butter, maple syrup, bacon and blueberries.

Bare floorboards and potted succulents give it a serene, laidback atmosphere to luxuriate in whilst you dine, and the mismatched furniture provides a quirky touch.

North London hotspot Brick Lane is a stone’s throw away so why not explore before leaving? Caledonian Road & Barnsbury Stations are just across the road.

Ok let me start with the bad news: the restaurant is not close to any tube stations and its always got queues. The good news though is that once you're in, you'll be beaming with joy! Sunday serve up some of the fluffiest pancakes in town. The brioche french toast with banana and salted caramel is what brunch dreams are made of. I've heard good things about the cornbread too but not tried. Only thing to note is that they are quite a small restaurant, so better to go in small groups and to go very early before the queues get crazy!
