Come for the vegan-friendly Pan Asian fare, stay for the easy-going ambience and rustic décor.

Having met at 100 Hoxton, co-founders Ben, Can and Dan had already cut their teeth in the industry before embarking on this adventure and their well-travelled palettes are reflected in Pickled Fred’s eclectic, exciting food. They dabble in pickling (hence the name) and fermenting, so sampling ‘Fred’s Pickles’ is an absolute must.

It’s a cosy, 50 cover retreat with a huge brick bar and overhanging plants giving an exotic vibe. Grab a comfy banquette at the back or perch on a bar stool and watch seasoned mixologists work their magic.

Try the yuzu avocado with halloumi, lemongrass prawns, chilli jam, spring preserved lemon and tagaroshi or the Fred’s Banging Banh Mi – pork mince, pate, pork belly, pickled carrot, daikon, soy mayo, chili butter and Asian leaves. Make it a bottomless treat with unlimited Bloody Mary, Aperol Spritz or Prosecco for just £20.

The Whitechapel and Shoreditch High Streets rail connections are both within walking distance, though you may fancy a stroll down Brick Lane before leaving.
