One of Balham’s most revered Brunch spots, Milk deal in artisan coffee and moreish all-day breakfast treats.
Milk is so universally appreciated that even North Londoner’s are queueing around the block, making a rare trip South of the river to chow down on some amazing food.
They have weekly specials and are best known for having inventive recipes – recent dishes include buckwheat pancakes with Alfonso mangoes, Amalfi lemon posset, yuzu, lemon tea cake crumb and black lime or for savoury fans, their whole grilled Cornish mackerel on toast is served with wild garlic miso and mustard greens.
You’d be forgiven for confusing it with a 70s sweet shop given the faded, old-timey signage out front (which they spray painted ‘Milk’ over in pastel pink). White tiles, overhanging greenery, rickety furniture and long workbenches dotted with potted plants give the interior the feel of a half-café, half-greenhouse.
Milk are at the forefront of the growing fascination with coffee and the roasting process and they often document trips to meet their farming partners overseas to give diners a better understanding of the love that goes into roasting.
It’s ideally located smack bang in the middle of Balham’s busier district and is just two minutes away from Balham Tube Station.
