Step off Islington's bustling Upper Street and prepare to embark on one hell of a drinking and dining adventure. This is Hoxley and Porter, a veritable diamond characterised as much by the striking decor resembling a train carriage, as its intoxicating liquors and continental fare.

The art deco interior harkens back to the glamour of the 40s and 50s with plush velvet furniture and autumnal tones giving warmth to the surroundings. The luxurious surroundings are opulent but the food is pared back, simple goodness.

On a Saturday, Hoxley & Porter offer an incredible Brunch. Enjoy delicious dishes with all the classics from avocado on toast to banana & nutella pancakes paired with free flowing Prosecco and selected cocktails. It's the perfect way to celebrate an occasion or just catch up with friends.

Sunday Roasts at Hoxley & Porter are hearty and homely: with options such as roast rib eye of beef, roasted leg of lamb or butternut squash & chickpea roast all served with roast potato, seasonal vegetables, Cauliflower cheese, Yorkshire pudding & gravy.

Trawl down Upper Street to find Essex Road Rail Station, just ten minutes away from the restaurant.

Lovely spot for Sunday roast in this quaint restaurant that looks and feels like you are dining in an old school 'orient express" style train carriage, from the moment you walk through the long inviting corridor to when you enter the dining area. Beautiful quaint interior design with wooden features.. A thoughtful layout combining a few small booths with leather seating and wooden table settings nicely spaced out. Low mood lighting, soulful music playing in the background creating such a relaxing ambience away from the hustle and bustle of upper street. I was fortunate to arrive just as the window booth seating was being vacated. So was able to people watch as I dined. Although it was very quiet, the service ftom the onset was impeccable, very friendly and attentive service from Sami throughout. Happy hour, select cocktail menu from 4-7pm. I had a gin, proscecco combo. I followed this with a delicious 2-course chicken Sunday roast. Moist pieces of corn fed chicken on the bone, yummy Yorkshire pud with seasonal veg and a side of cauliflower cheese and cranberry sauce. All nicely presented and good portions size. The gravy required a little seasoning, a touch of salt and pepper did the trick. The chocolate fondant was sweet and indulgent with a refreshing raspberry sorbet. I also had 2 glasses of Stellenboch Rose wine. A nice refreshing accompaniment to the dish. Aside from the excellently priced sunday roasts, all other items on the menu are so reasonably priced. I can highly recommend a visit to anyone if you want good quality food and drinks in a relaxing venue. It may look unassuming from the outside, but as soon as you enter and walk through the beautiful carriage like corridor you will be pleasantly surprised. I know I will definitely be back.

This is our safe spot for a good classic Sunday roast. We went multiple time and we will go again! Lovely arancini and squid (a couple of time was a bit chewy but generally is good) and amazing pork with crispy skin! It’s not the best one in the city that will blow your mind but it’s a good and safe option for a quiet and intimate brunch!

Super cute venue, I love the decorations and it’s really aesthetic. The barman was very nice and accommodating. We had some wine and both the white and rose were really tasty! I can’t believe this place is not heaving! I highly recommend !!!
