A hit with the pre-theatre crowd, Balans Soho Society is a beacon for the arty and the outcasts and they invite people from all walks of life to dig in to their one-of-a-kind Brunches.
Breakfast here is anything but staid – dip into international flavours with chorizo con Papas topped with a tangy salsa fresca, or try the Brunch classic of Kedgeree, a British-Indian fusion dish of spiced rice, peas and smoked haddock. For the more daring among you, the dubiously-titled ‘Eggs in Hell’ – which come poached in a fiery tomato chilli sauce – will surely hit the spot.
Brunch here is the main event, however. Go for classics like steak & eggs with chimichurri, smoked salmon and eggs, French Toast and pancakes or try something more inventive. Their light bites section traverses the globe, so why not have an authentic, nutritious taste of Japan with a tuna tataki? It comes topped with pickled vegetables, avocado mousse and yuzu tobiko. Other house favourites include crisp polenta with kale and hazelnuts. Cornish crab linguine and ‘The Infamous Balans Burger’ with double-dipped chips if you have eyes bigger than your belly.
Victoria Underground and St James’s Park Station are both within walking distance, at under ten minutes away from Balans.
