The warm atmosphere of Café Gandolfi is just one reason to visit this stalwart of the Glasgow food scene, whose European breakfasts have been keeping appetites sated for decades.

History is seeped into the fabric of Café Gandolfi, a Glasgow mainstay since 1979, with founder Iain Mackenzie spurring on the cosmopolitan regeneration of the Merchant City area. The venue even boasts the title of first cappuccino machine and the décor and furnishings were crafted by local creatives.

Tuck into classic Celtic dishes like the Full Scottish, which comes with black pudding and a tattie scone, or an Aberdeen smoked haddie with poached eggs and sourdough toast. Other dishes include Brioche French toast, Eggs Benedict and ham and cheese eggs en Cocotte (baked with crème fraiche), plus healthier alternatives like avo toast and porridge.

High Street Rail Station is just up the road from Cafe Gandolfi, under five minutes away on foot.
