    A great pub, obviously some history to the building, including an ancient well in the grounds. The food was great. The staff were friendly. Decent sized car park. Even the refillable drinks fountain was working properly!

    Very reasonably priced roast during the week - the beef, yorkshire puddings and gravy were really nice. Our experience was made all the better by our lovely and attentive server Judith - greeted with a smile and couldn’t do enough for us! Service really matters and not enough places focus on this, so it stood out. Thanks!

    Visited here for a small gathering after the funeral service for my aunt at Mortonhall. My cousin had booked us in for the carvery. I only wanted a cup of tea and was astonished to discover that the cost of tea and a sandwich was comparable to the cost of their carvery meal. Everyone else enjoyed the meal and the service was very good once the chef decided to appear to dispense the meats. It was fairly quiet which suited us given the reason we were there.
