Brunches don’t come as whimsical as at The Gardener’s Cottage, a gorgeous stone cottage that serves Brunch made from the best of local, seasonal produce.
They harbour a farm-to-table approach here and are a brilliant addition to the burgeoning slow food scene.
Bordering the outdoor picnic area are bushes of fern and hydrangeas, a truly whimsical British garden to enjoy some al fresco dining. Inside is a spare, clean yet homespun aesthetic, like a family countryside kitchen. Stroll around the grounds and see where they pick their herbs and fruit on site, plus a beautiful greenhouse packed full of the next day’s produce.
Mouth-wateringly soft breads and baked goods are made fresh at their sister site Quay Commons, so be sure to try a pastry basket served with homemade jams and butter for an authentic taste of what The Gardener’s Cottage are all about. Other dishes include a wild boar sausage brioche sandwich, a hearty Full English and Arbroath Kipper with poached eggs.
