Myself & a friend enjoyed a lovely lunch. The food was beautifully presented & delicious ( albeit soup & a sandwich) with a portion of chips. The wine list was extensive & well priced. The place was spotless throughout & the staff were lovely & very professional. Happy to recommend.

Spent three nights here (for the price of two!) as the base for a short Lake District/Yorkshire Dales holiday. Sedbergh itself is really nice - quiet, very quirky layout of houses all higgledy-piggledy, and a Spar within 5 minutes' walk to get a morning paper! The hotel was very comfortable and a great place to stay (albeit that the narrow car park entrance was a bit of a challenge - might be worth flagging that up on the website). All the staff were friendly and attentive and efficient. We eat in on two evenings - first the Tuesday curry night, with excellent food (lamb rogan josh & fish curry), and then the a la carte menu on our last night, which was a memorable meal from start to finish (pricey, but worth it). Just one negative, really, which doesn't merit deducting a whole star, but maybe half of one: the breakfasts weren't quite up to the standard we'd hoped for - one morning my fried eggs were overcooked (no runny yolk), the next morning my wife's poached eggs were the same, and I've certainly had better breakfast sausages. But that didn't detract from a really enjoyable stay.

Service and attitude poor. Two behind the bar not really knowing what they were doing. I asked for 2 diet cokes, told they don't have it but have a sugar free cola. They gave us 2 cokes that have 36 grams of sugar in each one. Asked for money back after queueing again. Told no but replaced with zero sugar cokes. The label pointed out these were very high in caffeine. So both were left. Here's the thing - a 33cl coke substitute costs £4.30 each !!! Where is £8.60 for 2 small cokes acceptable? Never be back - and you have been warned. Zero stars.
