Located in the idyllic countryside between Newquay and Truro, we have an exceptionally spacious garden for you to enjoy the Cornish sunshine (fingers crossed).

Welcome to our British restaurant and pub, with gardens, in the picturesque countryside of Cornwall, between Truro and Newquay. We offer sustainable British pub food, with a luxury approach. It’s a simple offering but really showcases the best of produce from in and around Cornwall. Our Sunday lunch is perfect to come and enjoy with your friends and family (and your dogs are more than welcome too!).

The name ‘The Tartan Fox’ is inspired by my Scottish roots and the location of the pub, which is nestled in the middle of a Cornish forest and, much like a fox’s home, is a den to escape in the countryside. A group of foxes is called an earth, which ties into my commitment to sustainability. I’m all about celebrating the history of this stunning 400-year-old Grade II listed building, which sits on a 30 acre estate.

Our menu gives a new walk of life to the classic pub dishes – refined with more luxury ingredients and a touch of Scottish influence too. With a focus on seasonal produce, we have created a regularly changing menu, working closely with local producers from in and around Cornwall. You’ll be happy to see some of our signature favourites from over the years too!

One of the best meals I’ve ever had and the service was the best I’ve had anywhere. As a touring musician I’ve been fortunate enough to eat in some fantastic places around the world, but this might just be the best service and food combination I’ve ever experienced. There were 8 of us and everyone loved it! The haggis scotch egg was immense and the steak was sublime! Thanks to the team and in particular the wonderful waitress who made us feel so welcome. I’m unfortunately not from Cornwall, but regardless I’ll 100% be back. Thank you guys for the world class meal.

We went to the restaurant with my 2 kids, the staff was so friendly and helpful, they also serve kids menu for my younger one. Both the starters and main dishes were amazing, would highly recommend the oysters and the lobster tart from the main. I usually prefer the raw oyster, but I tried the fried one today and it was really good. The batter is so crunchy and crispy, and with the sauce slightly spicy, the whole combo works together so well. For the main, would high recommend the bbq mussels and the lamb rump. Both are so tender and juicy, and you could tell the chef did pay an effort on the sauce of each dish! Would definitely come back and try the other restaurants in the same group.

Had a great meal here tonight. We had the venison and the tomahawk steak. Both were incredible. The flavours and texture of the venison are rarely achieved by others. The tomahawk was the best I have ever had. The chef certainly has mastered the art of cooking on a fire. This was trimmed perfectly. It was a thick, juicy perfectly cooked wall of meat. The chips were proper crispy big chips too. If you love a big steak, this is the best I have eaten world over from the finest restaurants.
