A group of us dined here on Sunday evening. The food was fantastic (the duck and the pork chop in particular!) and the staff were lovely and very attentive. Friends of ours were celebrating their engagement and the kitchen team sent out a congratulatory plate of truffles on the house. The wine list is great (a good range of varieties and prices) and the desserts were presented very well and very tasty (although the profiterole might be a sharer, it’s huge!). A great atmosphere in a beautiful setting with brilliant staff and food.

Afternoon tea; My daughters arranged Afternoon tea for a birthday treat. We had a wonderful time. The surroundings were beautiful, atmosphere was lovely, staff were friendly and courteous. We had the Winter Afternoon tea with a glass of fizz. The savoury selection was very tasty 😋 and the Earl Grey tea flavourful. The cake selection was sublime, homemade scones were light and moist, opera cake was zingy, our favourite was the chocolate and berry cake. It was busy but didn't feel crowded. We were able to enjoy a leisurely couple of hours enjoying our meal. Everything was spotless, smart restrooms 🚻 and the aroma as you walked into the building was lovely. A memorable, enjoyable Afternoon tea.

The venue is grand and at the heart of the Cambridge city centre so does appear to offer a good footfall. The atmosphere felt chaotic and not enough waiting staff but managers who just walk around and do not much. The waiting staff got orders missing and/wrong and there was a long delay in getting the bread ordered when the break was delivered cold. The food was underwhelming - meat was thoroughly dry and filling of the pie very watery. Side dishes were cold and flavourless. It was quite a disappointment overall. For the price and what it is, I’d not choose to book again.
