Damascena describes themselves as Birmingham's 'local, far away coffee house'.

It makes sense; Brunching at Damascena is like dining in the Middle East. If you're unfamiliar with Syrian cuisine, chances are that you'll be starting your day with something completely new. The decor and the food and drink menu are almost entirely Middle Eastern influenced,  yet Damascena still has that warm familiarity of your favourite haunt.

The menu is a medley of all the best flavours the Middle East has to offer. From delightfully crispy falafel enveloped in soft flatbread and smothered in a rich  Tahini dressing to lightly spiced Chicken Shawarmas, there is something for everyone. We recommend a sort of  Syrian variation on the Full English- the Damascena Breakfast Meze. The cold Meze is a healthy but delicious combination of Labna, Egg Salad, Zatar and Extra Virgin Olive Oil Dip served with 2 flatbreads and Olives.

With a beautiful interior of designs dating back to the Ottoman Empire, Damascena is a relaxing place to enjoy good food and a view of the city. The highlight of the interior is arguably the hanging lantern that casts ornate shadow patterns across the ceiling. This branch of Damascena is situated in the heart of Birmingham, opposite St Phillip's Cathedral.
